What motivates me?

Money?

Power?

Honor?

Being an ordinary human born in a humble family, I wasn’t the smartest or the most talented child in school. Going through primary and secondary education in the sub-urban neighborhood, mischief was the only past time I had as an only child. And of course, that resulted in many heads shaken upon me when I was a child.

I remembered how one of my math tutor claimed that I would fail PSLE as well as other school teachers claiming that I was a hopeless student and how my secondary school teachers labelled me as a bad influence. I thought to myself… am I really what they claim to be?

It is reality that matters isn't it? Facts speak for themselves and failure is the mother of success. Looking back at how I was judged and being labelled as a child, I found my motivation. I aimed to be more successful than what they thought I would be. I strive towards making a change in the society so that our future generations avoid going through such humiliation and negativity as a child growing up.

I believe everyone has heard of "Greed is motivation". People who have worked with me would know that I am a visionary with a clear objective, which is to make the World a better place. In my opinion, the motivation to work should never be purely money, power or honor as those are just part and parcel of the process. Don’t get me wrong, I am no saint neither am I denying that money and power are the fuels that keep me going. However, the final destination and my key motivation remains unchanged - make a positive change or influence in the World we live in for the future generations.

To everyone who is struggling to make ends meet and striving for a better tomorrow. Remember, don’t be put down by anyone just because you have yet to achieve anything today. In fact, you have the greatest opportunity of a lifetime to work harder than anyone else since you are a blank piece of paper. What else is there to lose? You are only left with 1 choice now, and it would be to stay motivated, look forward and work hard for a better future.

As long as you believe, nothing is impossible.
